Monitoring of the NIS-Programme implementation in Intellectual schools

 

From March 28 to April 8, 2022, subject experts of Centre for Educational Programmes monitored NIS-Programme (hereinafter- subject experts) being implemented across the Intellectual Schools.

The monitoring was held in 9 cities on the implementation of secondary and higher school programmes.

The purpose of the monitoring was to analyze the implementation process of NIS-Programme during distance and blended learning formats in the pandemic.

During the monitoring different data collection methods were applied: lesson observation, review of short-term lesson plans and handout materials, analysis of student papers and focus groups with students and teachers.

The monitoring was conducted to identify difficulties that NIS teachers and students faced during the pandemic.

Subject experts visited lessons not only on their subjects, but also other subjects to get the whole picture of NIS-Programme.

As a result, methodological recommendations will be provided to NIS teachers to support students while studying according to NIS-Programme There will also be training during the summer sessions.

Every Wednesday Grade 9-10 students from Ziyatker school have lessons online via ZOOM within the project “Support in the development of secondary education in Atyrau region”. They solve non-standard and Olympiad problems in Mathematics under the supervision of Toibek Aubakirov, a subject coordinator and Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. These lessons aim to develop students’ numeracy by teaching them how to build mathematical models and describe processes in different contexts, and to apply this knowledge in practice. They motivate students to learn Mathematics.

Within the framework of the project on the development of textbooks for the 12th grade in accordance with the educational program of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools – NIS-Program, the branch “Center for Educational Programs” held a seminar for authors and editors on subject: “Kazakhstan in the modern world” for 12th grade during the period from 25 to 29 April 2022.

The seminar is held in Nur-Sultan, in the building of “NIS” AEO; at highway Khussein ben Talal 21/1.

Webinars for teachers on the development of students’ functional literacy

To provide methodological support for rural teachers on 3-4 February 2022 subject specialists of Centre for educational programmes held webinars in the Kazakh and Russian languages on the development of students’ functional literacy in “Kazakh language”, “Russian language”, “English language”, “Mathematics”, “Computer Science”, “Chemistry”, “Biology”, “Geography”.

155 teachers of 14 rural schools of Akmola, East Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Kyzylorda, Karaganda, North Kazakhstan oblasts participated in the webinar.

During the webinars, teachers analysed tasks for the formation of students’ functional literacy, gave specific methodological recommendations.
