Digital educational resources
Along with the textbooks publishing the Centre has been developing digital education resources (DER) in order to support the learning and teaching process according to NIS-Programme and the renewed secondary education content. This activity has been implemented by the Centre since April 2018. It used to be undertaken by ‘Educational Resource Centre’ Private Entity (‘Centre for Information technology and NIS service PE)
DER provides teachers support to improve teaching activity, increase the quality and effectiveness. The use of DER in the educational process help teachers change the content and teaching methods.
DER with all features of textbooks has a range of advantages and disadvantages. In particular, the compact storage in the memory of a computer or mobile device, rapid changes and additions at any time, and ease of dissemination via electronic media.
DER uses different ways of presenting information, the video and audio support of texts, high-quality graphics, and animation in the software. This makes the software to be informative and reader-friendly, become a powerful didactic tool due to its ability to simultaneously influence different information communication modes.
The use of DER, along with textbooks, will make it possible to develop an individual who is able to navigate freely in the world of information and education, to acquire knowledge independently, and to apply it freely in practice.
DER has been developed on the web platform. DER can be used both at Intellectual and mainstream schools.
NIS AR project
NIS AR project is a digitalization of textbooks using augmented reality technology. It has been implemented since 2018.
Augmented Reality (AR) is a technology of setting the digital content online into the real world using gadgets (tablets or smartphones) and software (an app). AR technology is being used in primary school textbooks developed by the Centre. AR is a modern technology that makes learning more engaging and effective.
AR makes it possible to create an active learning environment, increase motivation, and turn learning process into a multifaceted virtual experience through:
· three-dimensional object modelling (3D), which enables you to see the real process and each part individually;
· visualisation of theoretical material by means of a video, so that complex concept can be understood and remembered;
· sounding of objects, giving you the chance to hear the sounds of rare natural processes and phenomena.
NIS AR app is available free on charge on Google PlayMarket and AppStore.
