Biography

Kalamkas Baitenova has developed subject programmes and course plans for Kazakh Language and Literature, Kazakh (L2), Introduction to Science, and World Understanding for Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools; subject programmes for ABC Book, Kazakh as the first language, Kazakh language, Literary reading, Kazakh language (L2), Mathematics, World Understanding according to SCSPE; experimental educational programme, model course plans and training programmes for HEIs in Primary Education; course programmes and methodical recommendations for teaching Literacy, Kazakh language , Communication ethics and speech development within the modernization of the educational content and learning process in Zh.Dosmukhamedov Higher Pedagogical College.

She is an author of textbooks for Grade 1, 2, 4 subjects: World Understanding, ABC Book, Kazakh as the first language and Kazakh language (L2) and methodology expert for Grade 2 and 3 textbooks on Kazakh Language.

Kalamkas Baitenova took part in workshops on curriculum and subject programmes development delivered by the Netherlands Institute for Curriculum Development  (Wout Ottevanger, Jan Berkvens) (2016), Curriculum development (Tim Oates, Team Leader for Research and Development of Assessment, Cambridge Assessment) and Implementation of a concept-based curriculum  (Malcolm Nicholson).

She participated in Textbook Quality Assurance Workshop (Singapore, 2015), seminars and trainings delivered by leading experts of Kazakhstan, Russia, Finland, Estonia, Great Britain, Singapore, Australia, the Netherlands, Canada and America on curriculum and textbook development and conducting monitoring and reviews.

Kalamkas Baitenova is an author of the Kazakh language lexical and grammatical minimum used in mainstream and NIS schools, of the Pedagogical Knowledge Portal (software), and KazLingva application for Grade 1.

She is a methodology expert, trainer and supervisor of the Kazakh language immersion programme. Kalamkas Baitenova delivers training workshops for leaders, methodologists and teachers of pilot preschool organizations.

About Preschool and Primary Education department

Preschool and primary education department coordinates the development, piloting and revision of subject programmes, medium-term plans and textbooks on Literacy Learning, Kazakh Language (L1 and L2), Literary reading, Russian Language (L1 and L2), Mathematics, Science, World Understanding according to the State Compulsory Educational Standard of Kazakhstan and Pre-school educational programme; primary school subjects according to the NIS-Programme and the Kazakh Language Immersion Project, pre-school education and language immersion programmes for NIS students, and early development programme “Shanyrak”.

The Department carries out activities to improve the methods of organizing the learning process and modern educational technologies used in Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools and secondary education of Kazakhstan. It moderates the Educational Resource Portal and provides methodological support to primary school teachers through recommendations, guidelines, and training workshops within the renewed secondary education content initiative.
