Galiya Alzhanova Zhanzakovna

Deputy Director of the Centre for Educational Programmes in charge of the NIS experience dissemination

Galiya Alzhanova developed subject programmes and course plans in Chemistry for Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools, in Science and Chemistry for mainstream schools in the context of the renewed secondary education content, in Chemistry and Geography for the Higher Pedagogical College named after Zh.Dosmukhamedov. She is certified by Cambridge Assessment International Education.

                Galiya Alzhanova designed a methodology for textbooks in Science, Grade 5, and Chemistry, Grade 7, for mainstream schools, and in Chemistry for Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools.

She participated in the seminar “Train-the Trainer in Item and Test development” delivered by Cito International. It gives her the right to teach basic concepts in test development for NIS teachers. Galiya also completed the Textbook Quality Assurance Workshop (Singapore, 2015) and participated in the trainings and workshops on the development of subject programmes and textbooks, monitoring research and review delivered by leading experts from Kazakhstan, Russia, Great Britain, Singapore, Australia, the Netherlands and Canada. 

She is an author of teaching aids and recommendations, Chemistry assignments and more than 10 publications.

               From 12 October, 2018 to 15 January, 2019, Galiya Alzhanova was a programme author and expert of the course “Modern trends in secondary education. Development of functional literacy” as part of the European Union project “Support to the Education Sector in Turkmenistan” for mainstream school leaders and teachers and staff members of the National Institute of Education.

2003  – Master degree in Teaching Chemistry, Akhmet Yassawi  International Kazakh-Turkish University

Information about Department

Science and Mathematics Department supervises the development, revision and update of subject programmes, mid-term plans and teaching and learning materials in Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Science, Chemistry, Biology, and Geography. It develops and updates teaching methods and educational technology used in Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools and secondary education of Kazakhstan. It also provides methodological support to teachers implementing subject programmes and delivers trainings and seminars on the implementation of subject programmes and innovative technology.
