Participating in the 6th meeting of the Informal Working Group of the OECD project

         The 6th informal working group's meeting of ‘Future of Education and Skills: Education 2030’ programme took place on the 23-25 October 2017 at the OECD Headquarters in Paris. This meeting focused at finding common grounds and establishing a platform for countries to consider developing and updating educational programmes. More than 30 counties participate in the project and among them are Singapore, Germany, South Korea, Finland, and international organisations like International Baccalaureate, European commission etc.

For Kazakhstan making transition to the updated content of secondary education the project is of a particular interest. It provides an opportunity to share information on curricula and plans, discuss ways of solving relevant problems in determining the content of secondary education and improving curriculum development process.

The agenda of the 6th meeting was as follows: curriculum overload; knowledge, skills, views and values of 2030; ongoing development of OECD Framework; curriculum gap.

Delegates from Kazakhstan were NIS AEO representatives. In 2016 Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan appointed NIS AEO to be the national coordinator in the project.  Kazakhstan delegation members: Zhanar Abdildina, Director of Centre for Educational Programmes; Talgat Bainazarov, Taraz NIS Director; Gulnara Apeeva, Mathematics teacher; Kaisar Dauletbek, Daniyar Saparov and Armanzhan Muratbaev, Astana NIS students. Notably, these students had an opportunity to open a session, dedicated to the future of Mathematics curriculum.
