CATEC 2013 conference «Critical Thinking in English Language Learning and Teaching» took place in Kyrgyzstan during three days (25 -28 June, 2013). On the 25th of June, 2013 the pre-conference was the initiative of the US Embassy and the British Council and was held among the leaders of Teachers’ associations from Central Asia to enhance the cooperation among the countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgystan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

On the 26th of June the following representatives of different organizations opened the conference: the ambassador of the US in Kyrgyzstan, - Spratlen Pamela, Regional Language Officer – Jennifer Uhler, and the Director of the Lingua School, the main organizer of this conference – Gulnara Nazarbekova.

The keynote speaker was – Ann McAllen, the representative of the US State Department. She showed the importance of the critical thinking as a one of the 21st skills  in the process of job hunting and interviewing. All  the sessions were in  different fields but all of them were closely connected with the development of Critical thinking.
