Monitoring and scientific-methodological support of subject programmes approbation

On the 4-7th of march Validation visits have taken a place in NIS of Astana, Kokshetau, semey, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Taldykorgan and Uralsk with participation of international consultants from CIE as well as CEP staff.

On the 4-7th of march Validation visits have taken a place in NIS of Astana, Kokshetau, semey, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Taldykorgan and Uralsk with participation of international consultants from CIE as well as CEP staff. The aim of the visit was to validate changes that were proposed by teachers and developers during monitoring process and confirm/not to confirm them according to categorization of changes.

Ways to validate the changes are:

• Lesson observation of grades 7 and 11

• Interview with teachers, school leaders and students of grades 7 and 11.

Result:

As a consequence of a 2 day validation visit, changes in integrated programmes were agreed and confirmed. All subject reports were sent to CIE for the further consideration.

Breakdown of survey results from teachers, school leaders and students of NIS under the framework of monitoring of implementation of Integrated programmes of development

In January, 2013 the monitoring in the implementation of the Integrated programmes take place at Nazarbayev Intellectual schools. Sources for data processing were the interviews with the administration of schools, results of online surveys, discussions on the online forum for NIS teachers. In general 63 local and international teachers, 835 students participated in online survey and after processing the data the general issues of the implementation of the integrated programmes were revealed in all Nazarbayev Intellectual schools of Astana, Kokshetau, Semey, Taldykorgan, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Uralsk cities. The results showed that the content of the integrated programmes promotes the development of practical skills critical thinking of students and the trilingual education policy supports language learning through content. Among the activities in the classroom, most respondents gave preference to group work, games, presentations and project activities. About 62% of respondents reported that they are engaged in research.

16 -26 June, 2012 Visit the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools in the cities Kokshetau, Semey, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Taldykorgan with aim of implementation the Integrated Educational Programme

Aims:

  • presentation of the Integrated Educational Programme tin “Kazakh”, “English”, “Russian”, “Mathematics”, “Physics”, “History”, “Biology”, “Chemistry”, “Arts”, “Geography”, “Informational Technology” to the teachers of the NIS;
  • clarification and discussion of the questions concerning the implementation of the Intergrated Educational Programme;
  • collection of information for feedback.

Results:

  • feedback materials are analyzed and the problems are revealed connected with the implementation of the new programme.

The seminar was conducted as a plenary session and subject sessions. During the first part Abdildina Zh.N. presented the Integrated Educational Programme, Rakhimova G. demonstrated the material of the new subject “Global Perspectives”, Baitukov A. described the new approaches and methods such as team teaching, active learning and criteria assessment of the natural science subjects. Participants of all NIS had questions connected with the implementation of the Intergrate dEducational Programme.

During the sections the discussion of the questions of the plenary session continued with focus on the last section (content), there was a questionnaire for feedback. The results were presented in the table and the main requirements were outlined in the direction of professional development of teachers for successful implementation of the Integrated Educational Programme.
